Set in the picturesque south Lincolnshire landscape lives one of the UKs greatest trees, The Bowthorpe Oak. Rooted in a grass paddock behind the 17th centry farmhouse the majestic oak leaves experts pondering and enthusiast in awe of its size and natural beauty. The Bowthorpe Oak boasts the largest girth in the UK of a pedunclate oak (Latin Quercus robur) measuring a staggering 13.3m @1.5m.

The tree is naturally hollow allowing it to be used for animal’s sheltering or as a venue for meetings and parties. The Great Oak has no known age but experts suggest it could be well over 1000 years old!! Bowthorpe Park Farm welcomes visitors to come and view the tree taking in the wonderful landscape and fresh air, picnic area is available for you to be able to make the most of you visit and relax and enjoy the great outdoors.

 

As well as visiting the Bowthorpe Oak visitors have the chance to get up close to the farm animals, a walk around our newly fenced paddocks gives children and adults the chance to see some of Bowthorpe Park Farms cattle, sheep and much more. It’s a great chance to get outside and burn off some energy, and when you’ve finished you can have a rest and enjoy the views in our picnic area.

 

Although we are only open at weekends we do open during the week and early evenings for schools, coach trips and clubs. Price and availability may vary please contact us to discuss your requirements.

 

Schools: Bowthorpe Park Farm is a great place for an educational visit or end of term treat. We can also tailor the experience so school children can learn about food and farming.

 

Coach trips: We can accommodate coaches in our car park, making it the ideal destination for an excursion or short break for light refreshment.

We are open from 10am – 5pm Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays with latest admissions 15 min before closing.
