Set in the picturesque south Lincolnshire landscape lives one of the UKs greatest trees, The Bowthorpe Oak. Rooted in a grass paddock behind the 17th centry farmhouse the majestic oak leaves experts pondering and enthusiast in awe of its size and natural beauty. The Bowthorpe Oak boasts the largest girth in the UK of a pedunclate oak (Latin Quercus robur) measuring a staggering 13.3m @1.5m.

The tree is naturally hollow allowing it to be used for animal’s sheltering or as a venue for meetings and parties. The Great Oak has no known age but experts suggest it could be well over 1000 years old!! Bowthorpe Park Farm welcomes visitors to come and view the tree taking in the wonderful landscape and fresh air, picnic area is available for you to be able to make the most of you visit and relax and enjoy the great outdoors.

We are closed still and re open again on the 26.5.18 and then are open every weekend and bank holiday until the 30.10.18


We reopen this year on the 30th of March every day until the 15th of April for lambing, we will then be open every weekend and bank holiday throughout the summer. We have some great events organised through the summer so please look on our events page and follow us on social media to keep up to date with all the news.


Private bookings are available during our closed hours.


A private booking gives visitors the opportunity to have exclusive access to the tree and spend time exploring the Bowthorpe Oak in all its detail.


A guide will also be in hand to help answer any questions.


Bookings can be organised during the week and early evenings for schools, coach trips and clubs. Price and availability may vary please contact us to discuss your requirements.


Schools: Bowthorpe Park Farm is a great place for an educational visit or end of term treat. We can also tailor the experience so school children can learn about food and farming.


Coach trips: We can accommodate coaches in our car park, making it the ideal destination for an excursion or short break for light refreshment.
